The Ten Questions Most Often Asked About Consulting With College Bound
Q. How do you help?
A. The college process has become very complex and requires careful planning. I help families with all aspects of the college process: selecting a major, selecting the best colleges, positioning the child to be the best possible candidate for admissions and scholarships, preparing applications, essay writing, résumé and interview preparing, and finally, filling in the financial aid paperwork that determines the aid your student will get.
Q. What benefits do we get?
A. Besides the obvious benefits of receiving professional guidance every step of the way, you won’t have any more uncertainties about what needs to be done and when, no more worries about missing deadlines or doing it incorrectly either! I’m here to take your headache away, as one of my client put it.
Q. Do you help save money?
A. Yes, my services will help
you save money in many ways. The cost of a college education is now the
second largest investment for most families. Yet, I have found that
families tend to make mistakes that cost them thousands of dollars in
aid. With my services, families are confident that they are not missing
on the help their child can expect.
Q. How much do you charge?
A. I offer services in packages that represent substantial savings to families. My package prices range from $349 to $1545. I offer payment plans for the convenience of my clients. My goal is to help, and I will be glad to assist you with any specific needs you have. Call me to discuss your personal goals.
Q. How does your program work?
A. When you sign up with College Bound you will receive personal guidance on every step of the process until the first semester in college. There will be monthly progress consultations and a monthly newsletter with a checklist to keep the student on track.
Q. When should you start?
A. Most students sign up during the junior year in high school. However, for the student wishing to apply to a competitive college, the earlier in the high school years the better! The goals of the student and the family determine when it’s best to start the planning process!
Q. Do you help with scholarships?
A. Yes. My students are actively looking for scholarships and receive guidance on finding, writing the applications, and interviewing for scholarships.
Q. Are parents involved in the process?
A. Parents are very involved in the process. Because it is sometimes difficult for parents to attend every meeting, the monthly newsletter keeps them informed of what the students should be doing and what is coming up.
Q. We have heard that College Companies usually try to sell you some financial products?
A. You have to be aware that there are
companies, most of them being from out of state, whose objective is to
sell you some annuities or other forms of investments for college. They
will provide you with a 1-800 number for counseling. College Bound is
not affiliated with any such companies. As the owner of this privately,
locally owned business, I guarantee you one-on-one guidance with no
backdoor selling.
Q. We have heard about consulting with Lydie McVay. Why should we hire you?
A. My
goal is to help families make their children’s college dream come
true. Every family has different goals and different needs. Call me to discuss your goals and let's see if I can be of help.
